Aquaplaning

The RainSport 3 is our latest generation tyre featuring Shark Skin Technology. Handling

Its special tyre pattern increases the tyre's contact area on wet roads so you can zip around with confidence, steering in total control.

The RainSport 3 is rated grade A on the EU Tyre Label for wet grip, indicating the highest possible performance in wet and rainy conditions.

Grip

Fast Curve Configuration and flexible tread blocks increase the area in which forces are transmitted to the roads. So, even when you take a corner at speed, the RainSport 3 will keep its grip.

Self Supporting Runflat (SSR)

Run-flat tyres, which Uniroyal also refers to as SSR tyres (the abbreviation stands for ‘self-supporting run-flat’), have a reinforced sidewall. In the case of a puncture, this prevents the sidewall from being crushed between the wheel rim and the road, which in turn prevents air from escaping. As a result, it is possible to reach the nearest garage safely – even in the event of a puncture. With SSR tyres, drivers can continue their journey for up to 50 miles (80 kilometres) at a top speed of 50 mph.

EU tyre label

1. Wet grip

The wet grip rating indicates how well the tyre will perform in wet conditions, with performance graded from class A down to E. A high grade means short braking distances on wet roads.

2. Fuel efficiency

Reduced rolling resistance saves fuel and cuts CO2 emissions. Class A tyres deliver the best fuel efficiency, with fuel consumption increasing all the way down to class E.

3. Noise level

This is the external rolling noise generated by the tyre, measured in decibels. The label shows the noise level rated in classes from A down to C.

Additional pictograms for snow and icy conditions

In addition to these three label values, there are also pictograms − if applicable − relating to performance in severe snow conditions (3PMSF) and/or grip in icy conditions (the latter applies to passenger car tyres only).

Test Reports: Uniroyal tested by independent tyre experts

‘The Uniroyal RainSport 3 is a specialist in the wet and impresses with best aquaplaning performance. Its braking distances are short. It also delivers stable and safe handling in the wet, short wet and dry braking distances and low rolling resistance.’

In the AutoBILD summer tyre test, 50 tyres first had to pass a safety check in the qualifying round. Only the 15 candidates with the shortest braking distances reached the next round. In the final rankings with a VW Golf as a test car, the Uniroyal Rainsport 3 particularly impressed the testers with its excellent performance on wet roads.

‘The Uniroyal RainSport 3 exhibits ‘relatively low fuel consumption’.

This year, the ADAC tested sixteen 225/45 R 17 Y summer tyres. The test included various different models from all tyre classes. The tyres were tested on a VW Golf 7. The Uniroyal RainSport 3 was awarded the rating 2.8.
