Aquaplaning

When you're carrying precious cargo - whether its parcels or people - you need tyres you can rely on. The Rain Max 2, with its special arrow-shaped grooves and the three large circumferential channels along the tread, dissipates water from the tyre and protects you from aquaplaning.

Grip

The tyre has a completely new tread pattern structure, with an increased number of grooves, to cut through road surface water, and multiple gripping edges. These give you short braking distances on wet and dry roads, as well as improved handling and optimised cornering stability.

Fuel economy

The stiff tread ribs and lateral grooves provide an even pressure distribution when the tyre meets the road surface. This reduces friction, giving you greater fuel economy and increases the tyre's long service life.

promobil tested summer tyres for vans and mobile homes. The tyre size tested in 2010 was 235/65 R 16 C. Tyres of this size are typically fitted on Mercedes Sprinter vans and their cousins like the VW Crafter. Corner handling on a wet surface let the Uniroyal Rain Max 2 demonstrate what a real rain tyre is made of: the Sprinter simply shot through the water section at 82 km/h with a lateral acceleration of 4.15 m/s².

EU tyre label

1. Wet grip

The wet grip rating indicates how well the tyre will perform in wet conditions, with performance graded from class A down to E. A high grade means short braking distances on wet roads.

2. Fuel efficiency

Reduced rolling resistance saves fuel and cuts CO2 emissions. Class A tyres deliver the best fuel efficiency, with fuel consumption increasing all the way down to class E.

3. Noise level

This is the external rolling noise generated by the tyre, measured in decibels. The label shows the noise level rated in classes from A down to C.

Additional pictograms for snow and icy conditions

In addition to these three label values, there are also pictograms − if applicable − relating to performance in severe snow conditions (3PMSF) and/or grip in icy conditions (the latter applies to passenger car tyres only).
